You might need to look closely, but the Jeep Wrangler is changing for 2024. No, it’s not time for a generational change already. But it is time for enhanced off-road capability, easier trail navigation, and … more luxury?

Don’t worry, Jeep is still Jeep. The Wrangler will get upgrades that should help make it better than ever off-road, and that’s not exclusive to the Rubicon model.

2024 Wrangler Comfort Upgrades

But it will also get some softer upgrades. For example, Wrangler will have side curtain airbags in the first and second rows of seats for the first time. And they’re standard. Front collision warning is standard as well.

The 2024 Wrangler will also get a 12.3-inch infotainment display. It’s a massive screen in the Wrangler’s small cabin, but it should make it much easier to see and use on rough roads. Uconnect5 brings wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and it will have over-the-air map updates.

How luxe is Wrangler now? There are even (gasp!) power seats, offered on the Wrangler for the first time and tested for water fording safety.

Enough of that — back to the dirty bits.

Jeep is sharing the off-road wealth. The 2024 Wrangler will offer Trails Offroad on every grade. The detailed trail guides cover 62 Jeep Badge of Honor trails including the Rubicon, Hell’s Revenge, and Jericho Mountain. Subscribe to the service, and you can unlock more than 3,000 trail guides and get information like difficulty and waypoints.

All Jeeps will now include a stealth antenna built into the front windshield. Nearly all upgrade to a Gorilla Glass front windshield, and Jeep has tweaked the appearance of its iconic seven-slot grille.

For 2024, Willys models add new 33-inch tires and more ground clearance. It has higher fender flares, and Jeep says it will have more traction thanks to a standard rear locker replacing a limited slip. Steel rock rails are also included, and the Willys 4xe will have the 2.72:1 4Lo transfer case.

2024 Wrangler Rubicon Gets Full Floating Rear Axle

Wrangler Rubicon gets a complete off-road workover starting with a new full-float Dana 44HD solid rear axle. A full floating axle has a separate hub and axle shaft assembly where the hub is supported by a spindle and a pair of wheel bearings. The design puts the weight of the Jeep on the axle tube instead of the shaft.

It’s a stronger, more robust design that Jeep said many customers were sourcing on their own anyway. It’s ideal for fitting even larger tires than stock, and it also lets Rubicon tow up to 5,000 pounds on four-cylinder and V6 models.

Jeep isn’t done yet. Rubicon models get a new 8,000-pound Warn winch, too. Features like the Tru-Lok front and rear axles continue, the same with its 33-inch tires and an electronic front sway bar disconnect.

Wrangler Rubicon X Brings More

Rubicon X is a new trim for 2024. It comes with a full-time Rock-Trac transfer case instead of the part-time transfer case on the standard Rubi. It also comes with 35-inch BFGs on four- and six-cylinder models (they’re already part of the 392 package).

But the goal of the Rubicon X is to be a little fancier than the standard Rubicon as well as more capable. So, Jeep has added a premium cabin package including acoustic front glass, thicker carpet, and more sound deadening. That same package is on High Altitude and Rubicon 392.

Rubicon X will get Nappa leather, heated seats, parking sensors, and a front off-road camera. The hard top and fender flares will be body color. And then there’s the show-stopper — 12-way power-adjustable front seats.

The 392-equipped versions of the Rubicon will also get heated seats, power adjustment on the front seats, and the front off-road camera.

More 4xe Availability

Powertrains are unchanged. The line starts with the 285-horsepower 3.6L V6. There is also a 2.0L turbocharged 270-horse four-cylinder, and the 470-horsepower 6.4L V8 continues in the Rubicon 392.

Wrangler 4xe adds a Power Box with four 120-volt outlets this year. Jeep also added availability so you can get the PHEV on Sport S Unlimited models, joining the four-door Willys, High Altitude, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Order books for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler are open now. Expect it at showrooms later this year.
