Danny Ramirez Nearly Pulled a 'Chad Powers' With Glen Powell Autograph Prank

It’s safe to say that Glen Powell is officially a household name at this point in his career. Along with starring in the upcoming film The Running Man, he’s the face of the recently released series Chad Powers and starred in Anyone But You, Hit Man, and, of course, Top Gun: Maverick, among others. Considering his most recent stretch, which has his face on billboards, magazines and featured in previews, it’s not surprising that Powell gets stopped for autographs.

During a recent video of Powell in the airport signing autographs for several fans, his Top Gun: Maverick castmate, Danny Ramirez, decided to give him a bit of Chad Powers treatment—minus the prosthetics.

Ramirez spotted Powell signing autographs and snuck into the mix while quickly holding out a copy of The Running Man star’s recent GQ magazine cover. While Powell was going through as many people as possible to sign autographs and take pictures, he only briefly looked up after Ramirez said something (after signing his magazine) before realizing who it was.

Not surprisingly, Powell enjoyed the moment, as did the rest of the onlookers in the airport.

It was a pretty wholesome clip overall, as it’s not common to see Hollywood stars in candid moments like this with friends/close acquaintances. It’s safe to assume that Powell and Ramirez have a decent friendship, as the two attended the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in July together.

Among the many fans who replied to the various clips of the duo, one reference that hit the mark well was the former TMZ clip of Leonardo DiCaprio running up to Jonah Hill and pretending to be a fan.

Potential Glen Powell, Danny Ramirez Reunion in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Encore

Powell, who played Lt. Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin, has already been linked to a potential third movie in the Top Gun series, alongside Tom Cruise and Miles Teller. Ramirez (Lt. Mickey ‘Fanboy’ Garcia), possibly returning for the encore to Top Gun: Maverick, could set up a reunion between the two on the big screen.

Director Joseph Kosinski has spoken several times about what’s on the horizon after the success of the 2022 sequel to the original Top Gun, and it sounds like things are moving forward.

Most recently, Kosinski told Collider in late August that the script is being written, and hyped the movie up by stating that it’s going to make Top Gun: Maverick “feel small in comparison.”

“So, I’ve said a few things about it. We’re working on it, Aaron Krueger’s writing the script as we speak,” Kosinski said. “The idea of it is very exciting. The scale of it is massive. It’s going to make Maverick feel small in comparison, honestly. But, yeah, that’s all I want to say, it’s very exciting.”

After the tremendous box office numbers Top Gun: Maverick posted, bringing in more than $1.49 billion worldwide, per Box Office Mojo, it’s far from surprising that a follow-up is likely on the horizon.
