As a wise man named Jamie Tartt once said, “Coach, I’m me. Why would I want to be anything else?” Fortunately for Phil Dunster, it looks like he may very well be back to reprise the role of Tartt for Season 4 of the hit series Ted Lasso. While there’s no official announcement or confirmation yet, and the Ted Lasso cast updates haven’t revealed an overwhelming amount since announcing new additions back in July, a noteworthy hint pointing to Tartt’s return surfaced on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
Dunster, who first introduces Tartt as a self-absorbed, score-first player who primarily focused on his own achievements, led his character through more significant personal growth than anyone during Ted Lasso’s first three seasons. Although Dunster wasn’t highlighted on the returning cast for Season 4, Deadline revealed that he and Cristo Fernandez (Danny Rojas) had already begun discussions about potential guest appearances.
New Video Hints at Jamie Tartt’s Return for ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4

There was obvious disappointment among fans of the hit Apple TV+ series when Dunster’s beloved character wasn’t confirmed for Season 4. While it remains unknown exactly how Tartt’s potential return could unfold, a video revealed the 33-year-old actor on the set where Ted Lasso is filming the new season.
Dunster also debuted a new look with blonde hair, which can be seen in the clip below.

Barring this being some sort of random appearance at the filming in Richmond, it looks like there’s a very good reason to be optimistic that Dunster will be back in some capacity as Tartt during Season 4.
While filming has taken place in Kansas City, London and Richmond, social media has tried to find any and all potential hints about the new season, and a clip teasing Tartt’s potential return to the mix will be welcomed news for Ted Lasso fans. That’s the (hopefully) good news, but although filming began in July 2025, no official release date for Season 4 has been announced.
Based on the timeline, it’s been speculated that a late-2026 release for Ted Lasso Season 4 is on the table. Along with Jason Sudeikis, the other confirmed returning cast members include Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple and Jeremy Swift.
Among the new names revealed as regulars for the new season are Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Jude Mack (Back In Action), Faye Marsay (Adolescence), Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey (Jurassic World: Dominion) and Abbie Hern (My Lady Jane), as Deadline reported.
