Video: Fighting Moose in Someone's Yard Destroy Fence, Car

The fall marks an important time of year for antlered animals like deer and moose. With rut in full swing, males often compete for the right to mate with a female in the area through frequent, sometimes violent clashes. One of these confrontations just so happened to take place in an Alaskan homeowner’s backyard.

Holly Keintz of Homer, AK captured the whole encounter on video. Two bull moose lock antlers in the middle of her backyard and struggle to push against each other, all while being illuminated by string lights along her wooden fence. It doesn’t take long, however, for the fence to become collateral damage in their brawl, as one of them crashes through it.

Keintz isn’t pleased, to say the least, as she curses repeatedly and wonders what to do next. When the fence was first destroyed, her young daughter can be heard behind the camera trying to comfort her. “I’m sorry mom,” she said innocently. “I know you liked that fence.”

The moose that fell through the fence was off her property, but that still left the one that pushed him through the barricade in the first place. Keintz tries to scare it off by yelling, but the moose ignores her. Finally, the once-defeated moose charges back into her yard and the two begin fighting again.

They eventually move onto her porch. From here, Keintz can observe that one of them has a broken antler and a bloody eye. The animals continue fighting throughout the yard and eventually crash through another part of the fence. The scrap continues in the family’s driveway as blood is smeared all over her white Lexus

Keintz posted a follow-up video the next day to show just how much damage they did while it was dark out. Her car was dented, covered in mud and moose blood, and had its windshield smashed in. The fence is destroyed in several areas, with the remaining parts needing work to stand straight again. They also destroyed some of the wooden steps around the house as well as the fire pit and some of their outdoor furniture

The whole experience should make for quite the story to explain to the insurance company.
