For the aerial search and rescue team tasked with safeguarding adventurers on the nearly 15,000-foot-tall Matterhorn, perilous conditions, frightening heights, and difficult maneuvers are just part of another day on the job. The Horn, a new documentary series from Red Bull TV, introduces viewers to the paramedics, pilots, and rescue experts of Air Zermatt, who have been keeping skiers and climbers safe on the world-famous European mountain for more than 50 years. In six 45-minute episodes, the show follows members of the 75-person team through some of the more than 1,700 rescues it performs annually. Jumping between scenes of the team airlifting an immobile skier and pulling a man out of a crevasse nine stories deep, The Horn captures the toll of making such dangerous rescues on the alpine peak. “You can’t have fear,” says one pilot. “Because of the fear, you’re going to make a big mistake.”
