The Nike Air Max 90 Chicago Bears (IW1138-400) is officially dropping, and it’s the Bears release I want most. Nike dressed Tinker Hatfield’s 1990 classic in Marine, University Orange and White, then added franchise-specific details without turning the shoe into novelty merchandise. The Air Max 90 was a staple growing up, and paired with the matching Rivalries jerseys, this might be the best Rivalries release in years.

Where Can You Buy the Nike Air Max 90 Chicago Bears?
Nike has the Chicago Bears Air Max 90 listed for $140 with a “Coming Soon” status and notifications available as of August 27. Release is set for September 1 as part of the NFL Rivalries rollout.
The NFL says Rivalries merchandise will also hit NFL Shop, Fanatics, team stores and select retailers. For the Air Max 90 specifically, Nike is the confirmed destination and the first place I’ll be checking on release day.
What Makes the Nike Air Max 90 Chicago Bears Stand Out?

Marine covers most of the layered upper while University Orange lands on the molded eye stays, outsole, branding and visible Air unit surround. White laces, midsoles and Swooshes add contrast, giving the shoe an unmistakable Bears palette without overwhelming the Air Max 90’s familiar shape.
The heel is where the sneaker really connects to Chicago, replacing traditional Air Max branding with GSH detailing that seemingly honors George S. Halas. A padded collar, foam midsole, visible Air cushioning and rubber Waffle outsole round out the build that’s defined this model for decades.

Why Does the Nike Air Max 90 Chicago Bears Matter?
Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 90 has been around since 1990, and its layered construction, visible Air and aggressive lines still give designers plenty of room to experiment. Pairing that nostalgia with Bears colors makes this release personal without needing much extra hype — the same connection I wrote about with the Air Jordan 10 ‘Chicago’.
The Bears say their 2026 Rivalries identity also draws from franchise history, including 1948 jersey numerals, the GSH tribute and the Monsters of the Midway. Carrying those references onto an iconic Nike sneaker gives the collection more substance than standard licensed gear.
Should You Buy the Nike Air Max 90 Chicago Bears?
For Bears fans, yes. At $140, these deliver legitimate team footwear that can still work long after football season. Marine, orange and white are easy enough to wear casually, while the GSH heel gives the sneaker a detail Bears fans will actually recognize and appreciate.
Nike resisted the temptation to overdo it here. This still looks like a strong Air Max 90 first, not a souvenir with a Swoosh attached. For me, the history, colorway and nostalgia make September 1 an easy date to remember.
