Possible Spoiler on CM Punk’s Next WWE Opponent

Following successful title defenses against Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens, it appears CM Punk will face another former world champion in his next title defense.

The 47-year-old defeated Sami Zayn on the July 6 edition of Raw to win the WWE Championship. “The Best in the World” had successful title defenses against Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens at SummerSlam 2026 and the Aug. 21 edition of SmackDown, respectively.

WWE pre-taped the Aug. 31 Raw and Sept. 4 SmackDown shows in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Rocket Arena. The spoilers for both shows have leaked online.

According to F4WOnline.com, CM Punk defeated Johnny Gargano in Cleveland to retain his title. After his triumph, the future Hall of Famer offered Zayn a WWE Championship match for the Sept. 11 edition of SmackDown in Mexico City.

For what it’s worth, Penta also defeated Rey Fenix on the pre-taped Raw episode to win the No. 1 contender tournament. As such, he’ll challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship on the Sept. 14 episode of Raw ,also in Mexico City.

A three-time WWE Champion, CM Punk is now 53 days into his current title reign.

Sami Zayn Gets a Chance at Redemption

Zayn defeated Cody Rhodes and Gunther in a triple threat showdown at Night of Champions 2026 to win his first world championship. The celebration wouldn’t last long, however, as Punk defeated him nine days later to reclaim the title.

With Zayn seemingly getting a rematch against Punk in two weeks, it looks like he’ll have another chance to redeem himself.
