'Smile 2' Star Admits He 'Vomited Off-Camera' During Filming

When Smile premiered in theaters in 2022, audiences around the world were horrified by the movie’s suspense and gore; still, the movie was a smash, bringing in more than $217 million at the global box office. The forthcoming sequel, tentatively referred to as Smile 2, hits theaters this October and will welcome stars like Road House actor Lukas Gage to the cast.

When speaking about the upcoming project in a March 18 appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, Gage confirmed that he recently finished filming the movie and divulged some (literal) stomach-churning secrets from the set.

“I’m so scared to give any spoilers away,” he teased. “If you love the first movie, you’re going to love this one.”

“It’s so terrifying,” he continued, reflecting on how he was physically affected by what he saw being filmed. “It was the first time I’ve ever been on a set where I was genuinely afraid, and I actually got sick to my stomach in one take.”

“I didn’t think I would. I just, it was so gory and so disgusting,” he went on. It got so bad at one point, he said, that he “vomited off-camera” while filming one scene. Needless to say he his story was enough proof to back up his claim that the movie is “legitimately that scary.”

“I’m not even just lying. I’ve never been on something that truly terrified me,” he confessed. “The crew is terrified filming because—I don’t know, [director and writer] Parker Finn is, he knows that genre so well.”

If you’re planning on seeing the Smile sequel in theaters this Halloween season, you might want to bring a barf bag with you just in case.
